"Unfortunately Your Camera Has Stopped"

I touch the camera or playbook icon (widget) and I get the massage "Unfortunately your camera, (play book), etc has stopped- ok." Sometimes it asks if I want to report. Why has the camera and playbook stopped so I can't take a picture or read an E book.
