I purchased a "dongle", an adapter that goes from a micro USB (male) connector to a Standard USB (female), and plugged in a flash drive. External USB Device connected/disconnected unexpectedly/Safe to remove External USB Drive kept appearing in the status-bar.
I don't think there's enough power coming out of the micro USB plug in our Archos' to support an external drive. I'm going to attempt with an actual externally powered USB hard drive I have to see if it will work later.
But the capability IS there!
And when it did open up (even temporarily), click on the "Files" application, and it appears under "External" at the top.
