Acer Iconia - questions about tablet

Hello,

I just purchased an Acer Iconia A500 tablet - used. When I go to the Settings / About Tablet, it is identifying itself as a Samsung GT-P7500 device with Android version 3.1. When I select Software Update, I get a Samsung login screen.

Can anybody enlighten me as to why the tablet is identified as "Samsung"? I'm assuming the person who purchased it installed some customized software. How can I reset the software to identify my tablet properly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Seriously?
There's a 90% chance the previous owner rooted it and flashed a custom ROM.
Was it certified? I'd see if you could exchange it. This may be a dumb question, but are you sure it's an A500? If it's used, it could have been a repacking mix up.
If it is an A500, you can search the forum to find a thread about flashing the stock ROM back on.
You can also check out XDA Developers, they're the experts in these matters.
Good Luck.

got ahold of the seller and he told me he rooted it - thankfully he is willing to refund. Cheers.
