It looks like a legit device. As per being illegal... pretty much doing anything that an Apple product that it was not designed for is illegal. I didn't read too much into it but I don't see how they would know your using it. Its doesn't look like an evasive device.

no... you... can't... :S It's not an Apple device, dude. It's made by some Chinese manufacturer...

I highly doubt they got the right certifications to make it legal. Stuff like IMEI, wifi frequencies matter to the FCC.

Not sure where you can get one...
