Music,
Based on Mike49er's description, I'm betting it's this:
Size-1130 "RS size G" Power Plugs have 1.1MM hole with 3.0MM O.D. PH-1130 solder-on Size-1030 coaxial power plug for Satellite Radios $4,05

Also, if a common USB cord has an insulated black wire instead of the messy braided outer mesh of the one I cut open, I'll be cutting open another USB cable to try. I was planning to use the included iPad one since I have zero use for an Apple connector and I figured it was engineered for 5V, 2.0 Amp power. Are common USB cables rated for 2.0 Amps?
EDIT: Per Wikipedia, common USB cables are only rated for 500 to 900 mA.
Thanks for sharing to all!
Steve

Yup, that's it. I've also ordered a ready made USB charger cable and will report on that when I get it for folks that prefer not to DIY.

the USB printer cable I used had both the woven metal shielding and the black wire for the ground.

Yesterday I got the cable I mentioned a few posts back. It's advertised as 3.0 mm OD by 1.0 MM ID and fits fine. It fits fine, just a little loose side and the barrel's a little longer than it needs to be (I'm beginning to think this explains the looseness with this one and the RD adaptaplug G).

Anyway, it's a good solution for people who don't want to mess with cutting cables and soldering. Just plug one end into a USB port and the other into the S7's power jack. Only 4.39 shipping included from seller cenyglobal on ebay (USB to 3.0mm 1.0mm Plug Power Cord Cable 3mm/1mm 3 mm - eBay (item 260647830072 end time Mar-06-11 06:45:37 PST)). Description is: USB to 3.0mm 1.0mm Plug Power Cord Cable 3mm/1mm 3 mm.

Forgot to mention, I used it with my Iphone charger which is rated at 1 amp and it didn't burn up, so I guess it can handle more than the typical 500 ma USB current.

There it is! The affordable USB cable I've been looking for. The 1.0-3.0 mm size doesn't fit as snugly as the 1.1-3.0, but it's effective enough.
Now I can quit procrastinating the soldering job and just officially abandon it all together!
Thanks Miker49er.

I had been looking at that cable as well. I was worried that it may not be able to charge at a full 2A.

If anyone get a chance to test it with a 2A charger, I'd be interested to know if the charging rate is similar to the stock wall charger.

i couldn't find correct charger adapter neither, so i decide to DIY.

(don't do it if you dont have electronic/soldering skill and worry about charger warranty)

1. cut the cable of stock charger thats come with ideos s7, it is only 2 wires + and -
2. buy USB extension cable (good one with bigger wires), cut on both end (female and male)
3. connect the USB female to charger (red to +/white, and black to -/unshielded), cover with heatshrink
4. connect the USB male to adaptor cable that goes to ideos.
5. now i need only 1 charger in my car and use ideos charger to be use for all my phones.

notes: i measured charging current for this tablet is about 0.8 A. so i recommend to use USB charger with minimum of 1 A.

Converting the charger to female USB is a grear idea. I don't trust myself to do it until I'm sure i have a proven alternate charger system up and running. I love the idea, though.

Hi everyone.
I personally own a S7 Slim 202u and the crappy charger plug just broke on me. Since there seem to be several references and models for the S7, do you guys know if the plug is universal for all S7 tablets? say, the 301, 201, 202.... etc? I saw a good price on a 301u cable on eBay, but I don't know if it will fit my 202u.
Help somebody please!
