note: i have made the mistake of shutting tablet down and starting it up while charging. The power button is red when shut off,and i get a blinking pink light when its shut off/charging. I viewed a youtube video on doing a "hard reset" which did nothing.
A blinking amber light while charging is a sign of a battery charger controller error. This can be caused by a bad charger, or a bad battery. The white power light with a black screen noted in your first post may have been a sign of the tablet being in APX mode. If the cause is not due to a hardware problem or damaged bootloader, APX mode can be cleared by holding the power button for at least 5 seconds to force the tablet to power down, and then powering back up.
