It is.. I've had the freebie for a long time. I love the agenda widget. It scales kind of funny on the NC, but it looks great on my HTC Desire.

I have smooth calendar on my phone and Jorte on my Nook Color. Now trying Business Calendar on the Nook because it allows events to be added bi-weekly, which is great for my work schedule and hard to find on a calendar app.

I wouldn't say better, just different. Smooth gives a nice looking widget that shows your next 3 events. That's a good thing. Business Calendar has a similar widget, but it isn't as good. However, it also has a larger widget that shows much more detail and additional events. Plus it's scrollable. I use both.
