Here are several job postings for AMD for Android driver development. Maybe AMD does want to get into the Android game after all.

It was not too long ago when xbitlabs reported on AMD dropping Meego for Android: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mobile...oid_in_a_Bid_to_Push_Fusion_into_Tablets.html

"DirectX 11-capable GPU on a tablet would open up huge opportunities for developers who know how to use this API. It is going to require a cooperation with Microsoft, obviously; at CES they announced their intention to better support the tablet market, announced something that we are working together with them on," stated the head of ISV relations department at AMD.
Sometimes in 2012 AMD plans to release a special APU for slate PCs code-named Wichita. The chip will be made using 28nm process technology and will naturally feature more aggressive capabilities to trim power consumption than current-generation Fusion products, such as Ontario and Zacate.

The hirings are for AMD Markham, formerly ATI.

The requirements include knowledge of video codecs, which may point to the idea that AMD is reworking its portfolio into embedded graphics.

Hope we'll see some AMD-based Tablets on the market soon.
Prices should be relatively cheaper than the tegra based ones.

If anything, AMD will be more expensive than Tegra. x86 platforms can do more and therefore are still worth more. There is little reason for AMD to go ARM.
