Is there a list of apps or running services that are safe to remove from the S7? What about the talk app? What would that effect if that was removed cause I dont use it?

Thanks

I was able to remove Twitroid using Titanium Backup. You need to be careful or you will brick your device and then you will need to flash a new ROM.

I have removed....

-Email
-Twitroid
-All of the emotion apps
-Huawei and android keyboard
-Huawei Home
-File manager
-Talk (do not remove talk services, your device will freeze)

There are more I'm sure but since I don't have them I am not sure what I removed, ask about a specific app and I'll let you know if I have safely removed it.

Out of curiosity, what did you replace the keyboard with?

Justdroid, thanks for the detailed list of what you were able to successfully removed.

What's your best guess of the space saving?

When you boot up, how many apps show up in your Tasks window?

Thanks,
D

Here was my original post: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...ce-moving-few-files-system-app.html#post22335
Market, Gmail and Calendar run automatically on reboot as well as some of the apps I have installed (i.e.: SetCPU, No Lock, SuperUser, etc.)

I am not sure the full amount of memory savings but it was about 15 Megs (rough size of my app.removed folder)

pa49,

FYI - Just a data point - his links are working for me on a Win7 machine & my S7 - though the site wants you to download a download manager app or wait (no thanks). Service provider or security software issue perhaps?

Assume your S7 is rooted. The referenced thread also says to remove a specific system file (assume you did that) plus it refers to an LCD density changer app but its hard to tell from thread discussion the relevancy to making the 3rd party keyboard apps functional.

Gingerbread one worked no problem, didn't need the LCD density app, or remove the file. Removed the file, but the Droid x wouldn't install. Replaced file, typing on gingerbread KB now. Yes, rooted, but shouldn't matter for gingerbread.
