first timer browser question

Hi hava a coby kyros MID7042 and want to replace google browser with skyfire. I downladed the skyfire.apx and
opened it. it came up but closed itself after e few seconds. How do I make it the default browser?

Setting a default app in Android is not quite like in Windows. Each app has to be set for defaults, there is no global default from my experience.

For example, if you are in a Twitter app and click a link, if you have multiple browsers installed a popup appears. Tick the box at the bottom to set default app and select your browser. This sets the default browser for links from Twitter.
If you go to an Email and click on a link, you will again be prompted to select your browser.

Some browsers do have a default browser option in settings that will take over all default browser permissions. Dolphin Browser HD has this option, but I am not too sure about other browsers.
