help my google android wont turn on

got new for xmas and it worked briefly till battery needed charging so put it on charge and now it wont turn back on at all ! is it faulty or am i just thick and missing something ?

no lights at all

Try removing the battery for about five minutes and then put the battery back in and see if it will turn on.
