How To Make Search Bar Go Away

I have a Dragon Touch tablet running Android 10. I didn't like the Google search bar on my home screen, so I looked for a way to disable it. None of the widget-dragging methods worked, and the only option seemed to be disableing the Google app. So I did that, but the search bar is still there! Only now it just says "search" without the Google logo and it seems to be totally non-functional but still cluttering up my home screen. (which has a portrait of my wife, and I don't like the gray bar running across the top of her forehead)

Isn't there a way to get rid of this?

Install a replacement launcher. For example, Nova Launcher by default includes a search bar but it is easily removed. Other launchers such as Lawnchair also have this feature, and many of them are as lightweight as the stock launcher.
