how do you get an icon/app on ur main screen so when you go click it, you will go right there on an android tablet 2.2 could someone please help me

The way I put I shortcut to an atop on my wall, is to hold my finger in the spot I want the shortcut, and I this will bring up a settings selection. Choose app, then locate the app, and select.
