I'm Old Tech, New Need Help

My kids got a cheap tablet from there mom, and they cant get it to work. I tried too, with no luck. Not sure what kind of tablet it is. the only title on the box is"MID", then it goes into specs, i.e,..chip, operating system which is android 2.3. oh and they have pressed the reset button ALOT. lol. i need some help plz. i have to be smarter than my kids.. signed (as my kids say) " old man",...

I think we need more information about what exactly isn't working as it sounds like it boots OK.

ok, i have fully charged battery, u push on button android in green comes on screen,w/0.2.3.3 in the bottom right corner, and nothing else..
