Lan to Wifi App?

I'm currently deciding upon which android tablet to buy but was just wondering (I'm a bit of a pro choice person when it comes to connectivity) is there any way to turn one of the tablets into a wifi hotspot for a lan it's connected to? It'd be usefuly for my mobile while on holiday
