I have a quick question, has OC'd U-boots been found to be too unstable? I've been trying to get them to work in my rom for the 8024, but they just end up bricking my tablet. Yes, I did hex edit them to use ut8gm for the LCD value, but thats all I change. Sometimes I do get the white screen, but mostly just bricks the tablet and I have to do a recovery to get it going again.

darn urbetter. putting out an 'official rom' with a big bug in it. that's in the binary and pretty much impossible to repair ? ? ? or is it a matter of a labelling goof ?

Its really just a quick test but that rom's UI is pretty.

notes about the new rom from the land of 'slate'. they say there are actually two ?
.
repost 'wsoft2002'

Someone in china post another firmware link.

HaiPad have 3.0 UI and this one doesn't (This what they said in the Chinese forum)

http://210.83.80.175:18000/utv210/gingerbread/update/package/703_gingerbread_2.3.17_20110924.img.rar

or mirror

http://www.mediafire...bq5xeegx6f6k58t

I have done a quick compare with this and haipad firmware, they are different

The modversion of Haipad is utv210-2.3.16 and this one is utv210-2.3.17

The UTmodules have differences too, the date in Haipad in newer then this one, but after binary compare, only two modules have differences , thay are battery.ko and ft5x0x_ts.ko, the ft5x0x have big different in size too, which is 12K vs 115k in haipad.

To extract content of this firmware:
After download then remove the "rar" extension (ie: rename to 703_gingerbread_2.3.17_20110924.img)
Use WinImage to open the IMG file, then you will see the content of the firmware.

One more thing, If anyone need hotspot support, please try the Haipad firmware, I see a patch call "search_hotspot_patch.tgz" inside.
.
repost 'lubo'
.
Haipad firmware is same kernel: 2.6.35.7
build number: 2.3 gingerbread 20110921.113041
this is nice, same kernel all kernel modules will work
diferent icons, status is at the bottom, nice transparent notification bar...
(maybe this is 3.0 user interface ... )
also very nice round unlock, folowing natural finger movement
also, old market, more usable in my opinion
CPU speed is 1149.37 MHz
different icons...
overall look nice
EDIT: more info after few changes:
if change density in build.prop:
ro.sf.lcd_density=160 - nice new icons are back to standard, no transparent effect!
this setting:
debug.sf.hw=1 does NOTHING ! if value is 0 then tablet is unusably slow!
and last but very important!!!
AD-HOC wifi is working!!! my joiku-spot is workin finaly

...wow, there is some good info in there !

I also tried the 1010 firmware.

I liked it and was going to use it as a base, but if bluetooth is broken I won't.
About to try the new one that rain posted.

i went over to read what is happening with this rom on the slate forum and the "major" work / adoption of the 1010... That thread sez that bt is not broken ! huh ? ? ? flxrms please re-test if at all possible because 1010 looks like a big win for us.
.
scratch the re-test, thank you... i re-read the thread just now and a member states:
"Bluetooth doesn't work at all on it. There is no way to turn it on in setup. It's working fine in your 2.0."
.
prox probably has seen the bug before and so knows the trick to turn it "on". with exposure comes knowledge.

I got 703_gingerbread_2.3.17_20110924 running on my 7024 with the honeycomb GUI.

I'll zip it up and upload soon so someone can test bluetooth.
