Hello,

I'm not new to technology. Heck I still remember DOS! I'm a retired businessowner with 7 grandkids and I love computers. Took a Cisco tech course last year and I can build a computer but...this android stuff is all new to me. Just got an Asus tf300 and I still haven't figured out what an ice cream sandwich is. Other than the kind you eat. So I expect to be on this forum a lot.

My main interests right now are: Best sites for free ebooks and programs to use for it; what about security on this thing and also on the cloud; Can Iuse thunderbird for my email.

I'll be checking in often and hope all you tech savvy guys will be patient with this semi-old school granny.

Hello Heartfelt,

Welcome to the forum. Nice of you to become a member of Android Tablets.

To get started, I'd suggest you click this link to the Android Tablet Q&A section. Read the "Sticky:" threads at the beginning for some good general information about tablets and Android.

If/when you have a problem or a question, the Asus TF300 Forum section would be the place to go. Just click that link and you'll be there.

http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/android-tablet-apps/24851-free-apps-free-books.html http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...9818-5-ebook-reader-apps-android-devices.html and http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/android-tablet-apps/37959-how-get-free-e-books.html should get you started on the free books.

If you feel you need one, there are several free anti-malware apps available on the markets. I'm using Lookout on mine with no apparent performance issues. Another popular one is AVG Antivirus Free.

That should keep you busy for a while. Enjoy your new tablet and the forum.

Spider

Welcome Heartfelt. It looks like Spider has you all setup for introduction to Android.

Hello Heartfelt, I'm a granny, a newbie to androids, and a new group member too. I remember the Radio Shack Tandy dos computers and 5-1/2" floppies, and the tiny-screen Apples (guess I'm showing my age :) I teach tech and don't plan on retiring for another 8 years or so. These android tablets are so much fun. I just read an article that mobile devices are on the rise and as a retired business owner I imagine that you can see the benefit to this. In education they're still thinking about it but I'm making a push for them at our school. Mary
