Nextbook 8 Speed issues

Hi all
Just got my daughter a Nextbook Premium 8 for Christmas. I have had no problems connecting to our wireless modem but finding the speed is very slow. Never had an adroid before so appreciate any advice.

What else is connected to the wifi? It wont be as fast as a hardwire, but should be comparable to things like laptops if they also are wifi connected.

Also, i am assuming you are talking about network speed, right?
