Best to stick with Class 4 or 6 or even 10 if you're going for performance. As Class 2 would be slower in performance but cheaper in price.

I have read conflicting information about the storage on the WPDN. I have upgraded from the stock 1gb sd card to a 4gb sd card. Can you please tell me what benefit I have by doing this. I have read that there is none. I just don't understand how storage works on this thing. I have about 40 books and 30 apps added from android market. (It is hacked). And I get a message that says there is no more space.
Thanks!

Depending on what ROM are you using?

OEM ROM the internal is use as Storage
OEM ROM with Rooted MOD the internal is use as Storage
Rooted ROM like Cruz UI the internal storage is swapped with the external storage

Well the internal as you know is basic no-name brand 1GB microSDC. I too have the internal swapped out with 4GB Class (4) microSDHC. Two things you can use internal for storage for music, videos, photos and app installs some data / recovery.

How much space do you have left out of the 3.xGB out of the 4GB?
Well increase the 4GB to either 8GB of 16GB. You can go as high as 32GB for internal and 32GB for External either SD or MicroSDHC into SD adapter.

I'm not sure how to tell whats on my 4GB. When I have my novel plugged into the comp, I'm guessing I am seeing what is on the internal storage, not my 4gb. Im I correct? Also, How do I utilize my 4gb? I eally appreciate your time, thank you!

If you had replaced the 1GB with 4GB microSDHC Class (4) or higher then when you connect to a PC the drive should appear first then the external SDHC. Only if you use the Cruz or Open PD MOD Roms then it get confusing. Those two MOD Roms switches them around. So the internal becomes the external and the external becomes the internal. This is done so you can store more apps.

tipster,

In case I buy one of these for my brother.

Is the one that is "rootable" the one that is "typically" selling for $189 from BBB and kohls etc?

I saw one in Macys this weekend for the same price

I know that folks talked about sales and coupons etc, but I just wanted to verify that THIS is the proper one:

Pandigital Novel 7-in. eReader

Wait for that Kohl's huge sale that would make it $149 they with a $35 off coupon makes it even less. Does your brother need e-reader or tablet? Or both. What the max you want to spend? Sears got Cruz Tablet for $269.99 right now. Just have to locate one.

I have some class 2 4GB and 8GB MicroSDHC and SD adapters kicking around. What performance impacts would I face using these Class 2 sticks versus Class 4 or 6? Does it just effect how fast files open? Or will it effect the speed of apps and such?

I am also in the market to get new sd cards, as i have the OEM internal SD and the external is a 2GB. Its my understanding there is no performance improvment but would like to know if there is any ways of improving the performance.

I'm trying to compare apples to apples, so to speak. The iPad advertises a "capacity" of 16, 32, and 64 GB flash drive. Apparently that memory is used to store apps and book data. It doesn't say anything about storing the operating system in that same memory. The Pandigital advertises built in memory storage capacity of 1 GB. Similarly in the advertising there is no mention of where the operating system is stored. If I change the 1GB micro internal flash to 16, does that change make the memory capacity of the Pandigital compare with the flash drive on the iPad? Does changing the micro flash to 16GB mean that I could store 15GB more apps than before I changed it?

so, hold on now, is there a portion of the SD card being used as RAM? what does "Storage RAM" have anything to do with this and why is it in the thread title - the very phrase sounds oxymoronic
