Remote Control Nook?

It is being reported that people who have rooted their Nook are now receiving a message when they log back into the Barnes & Noble Market that their device is not authorized. When users acknowledge this then their tablets completely reset back to factory.

Since there is no contract requirement or signed, not sure how long this will last, but in the meantime a word of warning!

Thanks for the heads up, as I am just starting to consider this tablet ... it seems comforting to buy a "branded" tablet (warranty, support [in factory resetted mode], re-sellable, standard accessories).

How important is it to keep the Barnes & Noble Market active? Don't you get Google Android Market once it is rooted? Books can be non-DRM (Calibre) or Kindle (via Android kindle software).

The Nook is a information crook.
If you root or not unit is sending "usage" information to B&N, when you root they see the out of specification traffic to non "approved" sites which are competition.
Talked to a Nook software team member and he indicates that this is part of the Googel Android process to lockdown branded units, code is in place that when activated will do a reset as indicated this is done in "updates" and if activated all book info is lost.
Looks like Android is getting NASTY.....
