Smudge on tablet (and how I fixed it)

Last week I received a tablet from (you guessed it) China, with a great big smudge (newton ring) right in the middle of the screen. I really didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it so I try my own fix, and it worked. I applied a suction cup (one I bought at Harbor Freight) to the screen right over the smudge and gave a very slight tug. Removed the cup and the smudge was gone. Now I know you naysayers will tell me it's STILL IN THERE and i agree, but for now I CAN”T SEE IT. So problem solved.

Folks have said putting the device into a bag of uncooked rice will remove the moisture. Maybe that would also reduce the possibility of the smudge (newton ring) returning.
