Text Messaging with a Nextbook?

Just bought a nextbook 8"HD
Can I text message with it?

Get yourself a Google account, and Google Voice. It will give you a pseudo phone number from which you can text and voice call when you have a connection. (Or you can link it to your existing phone number)
