FWIW, Tab onboard and SD card storage are natively recognized as mass storage devices on Win7 without having to install the USB drivers.

yes that is how to get the SGT ready to transfer files but your PC still needs the driver to recognize it as a viable USB device

Nice. Just got tab.

On my linux portable, the Tab dir just pops up when usb is plugged in and mass transfer selected. Thanks.

Plug USB -> select Mass Storage (or something similar -- I don't remember exactly) -> click 'Mount' -> you should see 2 new drive letters for Galaxy Tab RAM and your SD card.

Yup, works great. I have no extra sd card, just the built in one. The built-in sd appears as a another folder. In Linux you don't have those funny drive letters.
