Hi all Hope someone can help Bought my son a 7" tablet for Christmas. Problem is when I set up a Wi-Fi network on my HTC phone the tablet wont find/see it. I have no problems linking my HTC phone Wi-Fi network to my laptop if I am out. And the tablet finds my home internet Wi-Fi and hotspots outside home with no problem. So I know the Wi-Fi network on my HTC phone works and I know the tablet can see Wi-Fi networks. The tablet just will not find my HTC one. Does anyone know why or what I need to do to get around this issue please? Kind regards
What cell service? What tablet? Likely your phone is doing adhoc wifi netowrking which is the default. The stock Android does not support ad-hoc. It requeies the mode to be infrastructure. There are root hacks that will make the tablet see ad-hoc and connect to it. Some phones can be made to do infrastructure, or so I've heard. I don't know which ones though.
Hi My phone is a HTC Mini HD and my carrier is T-Mobile. The tablet I got off ebay all I know is the listing said "NEW GOOGLE Android 2.1 HDMI 7 Inch PC Tablet E/Apad" Build number is: WMT2.2_105 My phone does say: Mode Ad hoc
Do a search on these forums for making changes to the wpa_supplicant file. That is what will need to be tweaked.
