i know this section is for tablet hacking but my question kind of fits :)

so if i get an android phone from say t-mobile and they dont allow tethering, can i root the phone so i get that capability? and how does that affect my phone connection to the t-mobile network?

i want to use my cell phone as a wifi for my tablet, but dont want to pay extra for that service (not sure they even charge extra for that, but why risk it)

I have the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 wi-fi only tablet. My android phone (original Droid) is rooted, with the app wi-fi tether installed. I connect my tablet to this connection when traveling, so long answer....yes, whattou want to do is possible & easy.

cool thats what i was hoping to hear, you dont have to connect it via usb do you? your phone acts as a wifi hotspot correct? like a wireless router
