2.2.1 update?

I heard on the facebook page that some people have gotten a 2.2.1 update on the SYNET7LP? I have a DG2.20 hwver 11.2.0.7 but every time I check for a new update it seems to be the same old update over and over again.

negative Ghost Rider... Just tried it on mine, said update was available and I gave it a click and it updated and only updated the Firmware Version to 11.2.0.6.2.0 which is what it already had.

I love their updates... wipes out all settings and you start from scratch. That and you can update over and over and over and not change a flipping thing.

Mine was 2.20 from DG.

Was that a typo or does yours really have only 11.2.0.6? Mine says 11.2.0.7. I also get stuck in an infinite update loop, but that's strange that it'd happen in .6 too.

jbermudes, I saw the same thing and am curious. Your correct, the 11.2.0.7 update just keeps pulling down the same update that was placed out on the update server "12|http:// 222.73.93.45/update/11.2.0.7/11.2.0.7.2.0_beta3.ius". Nothing new has been posted in a while. This also goes for 11.2.0.6 as confirmed above and 11.2.1.8.

11.2.1.5 has had a couple of updates posted, some better than others as has the 11.2.1.8 however those versions show DG2.20.

At least for the current updates, the "Android Version" is "hard coded" in the Settings application meaning, if they don't change the Settings application no matter what update you apply it will always present "DG2.20".

I've decoded a few of the Settings.apk to view the DeviceInfoSettings.smali and they all use the same coding.

Maybe 2.2.1 is the "official" version but I have no idea how they are obtaining the updates because nothing on the update server is coded that way that I've viewed.

We need more information on how they obtained the update. The other infoTMIC devices are moving to another Over The Air (OTA) update method which receives notification of an update rather than the user having to initiate the request.

See if you can get any of them to pull the Settings.apk and post it for inspection as it might be related to the Hardware ID "hwver"

Hardware ID "hwver" 11.2.1.8 has had all these updates which if applied to anything other than an 11.2.1.8 tablet WILL cause irreparable damage (brick) the device. I did not decode all of these to see if there were changes so I'll check.

Note: SYTABEX7 11.2.1.5.2.0_beta4 "DG2.2.1-7b1". The user may have confused the 7LP model with the EX7 model. You may recall the EX7 Model Number was incorrectly hard coded as a SYNET7LP prior to beta4 when it was corrected however, beta5 has it misrepresented again.

The update files are specific to the Hardware ID "hwver" so attempting to burn the incorrect file will cause irreparable damage (brick) the device.

Honestly no idea. They were identified on the update server out of order and at different times. The naming conventions haven't been proven consistant so its a guess.

I really don't think that the order means anything. For the EX7 (11.2.1.5) the beta_4 works so very much better than the beta5. I don't think the updates are being posted in anything resembling "a progressive state of functionality."
