Being that the company Iwork for is starting to sell android tablets, I am very interested in this my self. The one I have on my desk right now runs
Firmware 1.6
Kernel Version 2.6.39-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty
Build Number 1.7.3

Our new tablets are supposed to have 2.1( I Think) and run at 800 mhz.

With this one I cannot download apps and hate the fact that it is setup to run on a phone. It has the WM8505 processor on this one.

I cannot get anything done.

I cannot wait till the new ones arrive.

Well post more when I see it

its not all the os its more that the tablets need to be made to work with android better, so i dont think google will make a special os just for tablets but they might create tools so devs can tweek it to work with tablets better.

I think Gingerbread is the answer. As of Android 2.2, the OS is still tuned for phones. Android is too good to just dump.

Oh and 100dollarnetbook, I bet you guys have an ARM11 Telechips TCC8902 variant.

Your old ones are VIA WM8505 (kernel 2.6.29).

2.2 with overlay will be meh, but Gingerbread with your manufacturers overlay will be accustomed to tablets
