This is a port of UNOFFICIAL cm9 by feiyu (0812 + patch) for Coby 8042.

This rom and the CM 9 for 8042 rom, eg system are the same, but kernel and bootloaders for 8042 and 7042 are different, so don't flash this version on any devices except a 7042.

Aurora/Elf UNOFFICIAL cm9 by feiyu (0801) - SlateDroid.com

The website DragonDevs - Community is currently down so I can't directly link to 0812 the one on Android Tablet Forum : Forums covering all Android Tablets I linked to is a slightly old version.

Seems to work good, wifi is slow to setup first time, I use wep on my router, once I typed in the password, I reset the router turned off and on the tablet wifi and my wifi connected just fine.

to watch netflix you need an older version

[Request] Netflix v1.8.1 apk ? - xda-developers

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vjcg471do3...flix-1.8.1.apk

camera works
wifi works
facebook works
youtube works
temple run works
yahoo mail works
play store works

that's about all I tested, the main thing was to get camera, wifi, youtubes, netflix, play store, yahoo mail working as those are what I use.

rom is very stable, fast no crashes that I have noticed.

make sure you have a backup and know how to get in to recovery in case something goes wrong

to install place zip on sdcard boot into cwm recovery wipe data/factory reset then install.

dragondevs.com seems to be back online.

Auarora/Elf UNOFFICIAL cm9 by feiyu (0812 + patch)

Moved to mediafire

change log
a few files removed, let busybox fill /system/xbin after install instead of before install, results smaller zip but once rebooted /system/xbin is populated.

Just tested an app called Webkey seems to work just fine on this rom.

So does the zip vampirefo shared have the bluetooth and 3g dongle patch already added or do I need to go to dragondevs an add it myself? Why is it Vampirefos zip is 215 MB and feiyu's is 126 MB. Thats a big difference, the patch is like 5 MB so I wonder whats taking up all that space?

Installed it,..... 7042 (not goodix, the other FT something), touchscreen does not work. I installed the zip provided by vampirefo, not dragondevs. Sucks, seems like a good build if I could get the touchscreen to work.

anybody else with non goodix 7042 had a chance to try cm9 out? Might be a bad flash on my end because before I did this I tried to install the 6.0 cwm and for some reason even though the adb files push and install cwm version says 5. Rather hear it a problem on my end and not with the rom.

verify the md5sum of the zip file.

this rom has only been tested on ft5x_ts I don't have goodix so no ideal if rom works on goodix or not.

I just downloaded the rom from mediafire and having no problems, this is a list of modules you should have loaded.

Checksum verified, overclock installed, still no touchscreen. Could this be related to my botched attempt at updating to cwm 6? Well I guess its on my end, I get touchscreen back when restore to another rom so Im not sure how the touchscreen is messing up when from a clean flash off the zip. Here is my loaded mods

OK I downloaded coby_7042_4.0.3_dual_ts.img from steev http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...firmware-dumps-coby-generation-3-devices.html
flashed via livesuite, as soon as tablet booted up installed recovery, booted into recovery installed cm9, zero problems. I can't duplicate your problem.

I do know you didn't follow my instructions at some point, I can clearly see your wifi is enabled, this can't be done without a working touch screen or you didn't wipe data factory reset. anyway nothing I can do for you, i went the extra mile and used steev rom to completely reset my tablet to stock to try and duplicate your problem but I can't.

I suggest you repeat exactly as I did, flash coby_7042_4.0.3_dual_ts.img as soon as your tablet boots up, turn on usb debugging install recovery then install cm9.

I would like to get some goodix users to test this rom as well, all mods are in place for both 7042 version, but I can't test the goodix version cause I don't own one.

Hello Vampirefo, I just tried it. Touchscreen doesn't work. modprobe goodix_touch gives: modprobe: can't change directory to '/system/lib/modules': No such file or directory

I made a symlink to /system/vendor/modules and then got: modprobe: 'goodix_touch.ko': Operation not permitted

Checking the log shows:
<7>[ 716.798363] ===========================goodix_ts_init=====================
<7>[ 716.805689] ctp_fetch_sysconfig_para.
<3>[ 716.809564] ctp_fetch_sysconfig_para: name Goodix-TS does not match CTP_NAME.
<3>[ 716.816947] Goodix-TS-1GT801goodix_ts_init: err.

That's as far as I can go with it...

Thanks for testing, would you upload a working boot.img and goodix_touch.ko from your tablet? also post the output of lsmod.

Here you go... Coby-7042-boot-goodix.zip Let me know what else I can do to help.
Ok the problem must be in the script.bin AKA bootloadloader.

I have made a multi-select bootloadloader that can use both goodix and ft5x_ts as you can below both modules are loaded now on my 7042 ft5x_ts version. So I know I can at least get the goodix module loaded on boot on my 7042, no ideal if it is working though, all I know is the module has successfully loaded.

Just to be clear, the lsmod output was from my WORKING ROM, not CM9.

I'm a very proficient Linux user and IT professional, been using Slackware at home and for clients for around 15 years or so, but this ROM modding of Android is new to me. Is there anything I can try to help nail it down?

It's the module. I copied the one from my working ROM into cm9 and I have a working touchscreen. Now to see what else is not working!
