Hi fellow 7015 users. I'm new to my Kyros 7015. I checked my "about device" info of my 7015 and it says 'Firmware version - 2.1-update1' Does the update1 part refer to the update available on the coby website or to the android OS in general? I'm just interested in knowing whether I should do the website update or whether it was already done out of the box. Thanks in advance for your help.

From my notes file:
System Info - from "About device" in settings:
Model number: MID7015
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 Root android 2.1
Build number: MID7015 1.6a_20101105-2
after update the same except:
Build number: MID7015 1.6a_20101124-3

So look at the build number.

Thanks for that Ridgeland. I hadn't scrolled all the way down to see the build #. Mine is the latter one, so I expect it's not necessary to do the update. Thanks again.

Many people test with Raging Thunder from AppsLib 3D Games.
If the tablet (steering wheel) turns the car right when you turn right - you're up to date. If the car turns left when you turn right - you need the update.
Have fun.

If you have clockworkmod recovery installed, you'll have to go download the modified update.zip from the ultimate guide thread.

sorry davey,
You need to use your PC not your MID7015 to view the video. You also need to download the update file to your PC and copy it over to the MID7015's micro-sd card per the video's instruction. Basically it's just download the file and copy it to /sdcard/ and the reboot with a double button salute and a few menu items. I don't know if you can do this without an sd card. The steps erase all your data from the internal 4GB.

New users should not get confused about rooting and market and clockworkmod. All three are optional before the update and optional after the update. If you had them before the update and still want them you have to do all those steps again.

Ugh...I've tried everything! Tried the AppsLib update from w.CobyUSA.com from the tablet, nothing. Tried to update manually via my PC, nothing. Tried the Firmware update, nothing. I'm STILL getting "devise not compatible". Can't get any customer service. How can they NOT have "live chat" help these days?!?!?

Hi KristaK66,
Maybe others here in the forum can help...
Does your Coby work?
Which model do you have?
If you have a MID7015 did you download to your PC the update.zip file from
COBY - Kyros™ Internet Touchscreen Tablet
Did you watch the video on the same web-page?
Do you have a micro-SD card?
Installed properly? (the manual is WRONG!)
Can you connect via USB from the Kyros to your PC?
Do you have a file browser installed?
Can you see update.zip is in the /sdcard/ folder on the Coby?
