MID M9000 Wi Fi connection not working

Recieved tablet as a gift. Have used some of the applications loaded on the tablet and they work fine. Wi Fi does not want to work? Have searched, entered information, etc. and it tells me that it is connecting, burt after two or three minutes it comes back and tells me it avoided poor internet connection?
Can anyone give me a hint as to what might be wrong?

Try resetting your router. Turn it off or unplug it for about 30 seconds then turn it back on. This often fixes the problem.
