Newbee to andriod flytouch 1

Hi Guys,

I'm new to flytouch 1 (i think i have the oldest version!) not too sure as it only says version 1.6 on the unit. Can anyone tell me how to tell the exact model. My unit info says generic and version as stated above.
I wonder if anyone can tell me how to get the unit to show up in My Computer, I get the windows bleep when usb connected but it does not show up. Also the touch screen is not working, only works in I plug a mouse via the mini usb connector. If I update to version 1.9 will this solve the problems?
