OK, time for the hard facts of life, Search on TipStirs posts. He can be the best source. My comments are going to be more of a splash of cold water
You have one of the MANY VIA 8505 CPU tablets running 1.6 Android. The likelihood is that you are close to the newest firmware available

These tablets are the low power CPU sold for as economy tablets (see the BogoMIPS value) You will not be able to do much other than EReader and WebBrowser. You might be able root and load SetCPU. This could improve performance some. But you got what you paid for.

This is a great learning tablet. But it is comparable to the lowest power car you could buy. You can do many things with this tablet. But do not expect loading 2.1 or 2.2 or viewing HD video.

Thanks! I was able to apply tipstir's mod under Gome Flytouch section last week. Overclocked from 350MHz to 400MHz. As gurgle mentioned, this tablet is ok for ebook reading and web browsing, some games work well too. However there's a problem with the battery life though, it only lasts an average of 1.5 hours.

seriously i have no idea how to install the new firmware. i need some help,ha ha does it require you to use a SD card or is there another way?
because i found out that i could use an ipod cable to plug into the spot where the removable usb port is, the only problem is the computer only recognizes the localdisk folder(with all the stupid preloaded imgs), and why is it incapable of booting off a usb stick when plugged in at start up? now i am familiar with the droid OS because i had a mytouch slide 3g. but the market on this thing is like a fake or something and i really want to know how to flash it.

For the VIAs, you just extract the firmware into the sd card correctly, and it's supposed to flash it I believe

I got one of these "cheap" 1.6 MIDs, and all i use it for is reading books (except of the poor battery life it's rather ok at that) but now I got curios, what else is this tablet good for, It does show youtube clips with the built-in client, but I failt to download anything from the Market (well, the market itself looks rather strange, like some sub-sub-sub portion of the market). That by the way is one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade to 2.1

So, do yo uhave any experience with these tablets, can you suggest what else they are good for?

Thanks.
