I too just got a Pandigital novel 7 and I have not had much luck with it ( hence my finding this site) I was not able to update the firmware at all. I tried to load a few games from the SAM slide app site and now I too have a black screen. if you figured anything out or if some one else is out there with thoughts I'd love to hear it. I am so far very disappointed in this reader.

I tried to flash mine. It looked like it was loading ok. But when it went to restart, it came back on with a black screen. It makes sound, but does not light up. I removed the battery and the internal sdcard. Nothing is working. I wish someone could help.

I should add that after this happened, I went and deleted the flash files, and tried to "upgrade" via the main site. That was a fail considering I can't see the screen to turn it off and could only try to reset it. Killed it after only owning it for two fricken days. I give up and now will just call it a huge paperweight. I'm too stupid to figure out the fricken abd crap. I can code sites. I can't code this. I surrender.

Hi!! I check this link

Walmart WPDN R7T40WWHF1 firmware - SlateDroid.com

apparently there is a problem with the kernel, download this file
(kernel and recovery file):

kernel

recovery.img

download sdk

put both files in the same folder (platform-tools folder)

and go to the sdk folder, then to the platform-tools folder, there you open a command window and write this with the novel connected

(what is in parenthesis do not write)

adb devices (enter)
(must appear the novel device connected after this command)

adb remount (enter)
adb push recovery.img /data/misc (enter)
adb push kernel /data/misc (enter)
adb shell (enter)
# adb shell flash_image recovery /data/misc/recovery.img (enter)
# adb shell flash_image kernel /data/misc/kernel (enter)
# exit (enter)

adb reboot (enter)

I run mine with this, I hope it helps!Have a nice day!

I get adb: not found

any solution for that

would revive my tablet aver if this process works but I have that problem.

So I've got some problems with my pandigital as well the white version. I found where someone said that I could turn it strictly to a android tablet. I actually downloaded all the files and put them on an external card and followed the directions like they said to do. It was installing the firmware fine. The little android bot popped up and the bar was moving. Then all of the sudden the screen went blank and I don't know what happened after that. I don't know if I bricked it or what. I can unplug the battery for a few minutes and plug it back in and turn it on and hook it up to the computer and it's recognized. so I know that it is turning on but the screen is black. I've tried all solution's here and I bought two of these for me and my wife because I thought that I could actually make use of it and now this.

Any help would be great. I've tried everything that is listed here if someone can point me in the direction of the way I need to go. I do have another one of the same exact tablets that's working. I don't know if theres any solution to my problem with having that or not.

thanks in advanced!

Hugh
