Is there a way too get two tablets to talk to each other wirelessly without using a router?

Generally speaking the answer is no. The Android tablets mostly do not support host WiFi or host bluetooth.

If what you are wanting to do is transfer files, then apps such as ES File Explorer support OBEX FTP over Bluetooth, which you can use to copy files directly from one tablet to another.

That may be a bit easier, but would also require use of a WiFi AP, for which the OP was asking how to do without. The ES File Explorer OBEX FTP service works well over BT. I've used it several times.

I don't have two tablets to try this, but can't you Bluetooth between two tablets? It would be nice if lgkm (the original poster) actually described what they want to do. Steve

The hardware, OS, and Android API support BT host and client. If you have an app that is written to do what you want, the platform supports it. As I noted in post #5 above, ES File Explorer supports file transfer over BT.

The Android API also support direct WiFi connectivity between devices. I have not looked for apps using that capability, but I would not be surprized to find some.
