There is no 'Home Key' on this device, The only physical buttons are 'Volume Up', 'Volume Down', 'Power', and a small reset button that shows nothing in getevent.

Nothing happened with "getevent /dev/input/event3".

Output of "getevent" when the 'Volume Up' key is pressed:
/dev/input/event2: 0001 0073 00000001
/dev/input/event2: 0000 0000 00000000
/dev/input/event2: 0001 0073 00000000
/dev/input/event2: 0000 0000 00000000

Output of "getevent" when the 'Volume Down' key is pressed:
/dev/input/event2: 0001 0072 00000001
/dev/input/event2: 0000 0000 00000000
/dev/input/event2: 0001 0072 00000000

The recovery for 7034 has been reported not to mount, understand I have no way to test these recoveries, I simply input the info I get from you all.

volume up should be back, power should select

I can no longer access my recovery partition, it just sits at the COBY screen. It also looks like "cat /dev/mtd/mtd6" no longer yields anything. If you have any ideas, I'll give them a try.

Here is the output for "flash_image recovery /data/local/tmp/CW_recovery.img":
127|shell@android:/data/local/tmp # ./flash_image recovery /data/local/tmp/CW_>

i would like to take the time to thank everyone expecially vampire and traveller for helping me to get this far with my 8048-4. without you guys it definitly wouldnt have made it. i thought i would upload some screenies of the device after root and gapps install. also threw in some superuser screens, the su binary updater which sucessfully updated to the newest version this morning. the root check results are there to..just trying to provide as much info as i can on my side. the screenies were taken with my phone since i havent found a screen capture app that wouldnt let me take anything besides the homescreens. the previous i used were built into my roms on my phone. the device did get a little bit slower after the root and gapps process. i installed apex pro and dropped a couple of homescreen and set the background process limit to 1 and it helped a little bit but i would like to overclock it to about 1.2-1.4 i think that would help if you know any apps are compatible couldnt find any on GP. anyways im hoping with my system dump, and the info in these couple threads we could possibly have a cwm recovery for this device. Thanks again guys and any further advice is very much appriciated.

OK, first post time. Wanted to say thanks a lot to everyone in this thread. I picked up a pair of 7048s on Amazon for cheap for my kids to beat on (and to keep them off my Wingray Xoom), and I'm now rooted. My process was as follows:

1. I'm running Win7x64, and the ADB drivers refused to load for me. I used a copy of SuperOneClick I had laying around to force an ADB install, and it worked.
2. I ran the utility from this thread to gain root for adb shell
3. I snagged the zip from this post and pushed it all over manually, ran the script from the shell and watched it reboot...and now I have SuperSU installed.

Awesome job, and I'll be seeing more of you guys around here. Do we still need a system dump from the 7048?

Edit to add: Post-GAPPS-install, I ran into some serious input lag and general crappiness. Do a system reset, let it clean the thing up and root and the Market will stick. You'll be off to the races.

OK, so now that I've been playing with them for a while, what's up with the aspect ratio? Something's not right. The circular icons...aren't. in landscape mode they're squashed vertically, and in portrait they're stretched vertically.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. I rooted an 8048 and did the GAPPS install. Afterwards everything was very sluggish. The system reset got things back running smoothly. Thanks!

With my 8048 running sluggish. To fix do a system reset? Will this wipe my root? I really don't wanna do the whole process again lol
