rooted or unrooted for new update?

I got a message that says there is a new update for my a500 (04.010.13). I am rooted for the tethering purpose to my iphone. Do I have to unrooted it to download and install the update to be safe?

If you replaced the wpa_supplicant file for tethering, need to put back in the original file & unroot, otherwise you'll get an (!)
