I've looked and haven't seen this topic yet. I had a droid x and now have an iconia a500 i'm wondering if and what the advantages to rooting a non-3g device. How well it works and should I do it before 3.1 comes out?
There are several threads dealing with rooting on this site as well as on XDA's A500 site.
I am personally new to Android and rooting but in my opinion the number of things it allows you to do has definitely made it a great move for me.
As for whether you should do it. If you haven't hit any brick walls yet, you don't need to. If you've found something you want to do, but can't because the device isn't rooted, then it's time to root.
