Fresh Nook to CM7

I have a new Nook Color ariving today and I had a quick question. I am pretty sure I wont have any issues loading CM7 on as it seems pretty streight forward. Do I need to do anything to root the NC before going on to load CM7 using the CWM Ext4 bootable SD card?

In the guides I have been seeing it says to have a rooted NC before loading CM7 but it seems like running nooter wouldn't do anything other than unlock the default ROM.

Thanks for any help.

No, you don't have to be rooted, but you might want to. That way you can install CWR and make a clean backup of a freshly rooted device.

That way, you have a much more simple process of going back if you ever decided to.

Thank you. I will do that since it's always good to have a backup. I was assuming that I could make a backup from the booted CWR if I didn't need to root. I don't want to wipe the device before I get a clean backup.
