It really isn't that hard especially if you have darmeen giving a personal walk through There are two pretty simple ways to update to 2.1.

1. Install Rom manager from the market, save the CWR and ROM zip files to SD, flash CRW from ROM manager (boot into recovery and reflash the zip due to CWR 3.0.1 quirk), reboot, boot into recovery and flash the 2.1 ROM zip.

or

2. Create a bootable SD card, place the CWR and ROM 2.1 zips on the card, flash each zip from the card.
