Hi all; Just got my tablet yesterday, and right away went looking for a forum. I had previously mod a Cruz reader and a Pandigital Novel to run Android, and was looking forward to a "real" tablet. This looks pretty good for the price. But man, lack of a working marketplace, I've discovered, that any android device is pretty weak. Kudos to everyone working to get this issue solved. Hopefully, it will be developed into a easy fix that the uneducated user. I would suggest that someone write an easy to follow guide to ABD, as this was helpful to me in rooting and getting market to work on the aforementioned ereaders for me.
Thanks again guys for the hard dirty work!!

I was finally able to get the Market running with Free apps downloadable. I tried editing the boot.prop like Xi2wiked did and that made my Market force close so I returned it back to the original.

We really need a custom recovery, and custom roms..... It would be sooooooo much easier to just flash the gapps.

http://222.73.93.45/update/11.2.1.8/11.2.1.8.2.1.ius was the last ius file found for my tab, but there is one at http://222.73.93.45/update/11.2.1.8/11.2.1.8.2.2.ius
The weird thing is my tab says no update is available

11.2.1.8 Version:0 no update found either but downloaded it manually and did a quick binary file compare to the previous version. Here's what's different - going to move the discussion regarding these differences to the http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/sylvania-tablets/13447-custom-sylvania-rom-development.html thread.

Agree, having a custom ROM would make burning modification much easier.

Code:
C:\Sylvania>fc /b 11.2.1.8.2.1.ius 11.2.1.8.2.2.ius

What I did was copy the /data/data/com.android.vending/databases files and /data/data/com.android.vending/shared_prefs/vending_prefrences.xml file from my phone (htc glacier/mytouch 4g) to the corosponding files on my tab, rebooted, cleared market cache, cleared google service framework data, fc'd google service framework, rebooted, and it worked. :)

Just an fyi the vending_preferences.xml file contains the build fingerprint, which was the reason I was working on the build.prop edits. The beautiful thing about this is the only thing affected by this method is the market, because unlike the build.prop method which was in effect a system edit, this new method is simply replacing market files only. :) I also didnt install to /system/app, I just installed from the extracted gapps folder on my sd card. :)

Forgot to add, if I go to my downloads section in the market it does show the paid apps that I've purchased. And I'm able to download them, it just isn't showing the apps in the paid apps tab. I'm wondering if its not the paid apps that are the issue, but the protected apps..... going to look into this more when I get a chance.

I believe that the lack of paid apps is due to the location services being disabled in this (beta) build.
