Coby Tablet 7022 | 1125 | 1126 | 8127 Update ICS Android 4.0 - Is This True?

So are Coby tablets sold in other parts of Europe such as France, England, Spain, Italy and Portugal supported by a different organization ??

I think Coby Germany is well aware that users have been upgrading non-German tablets. It doesn't look like Germany will get the 3rd generation products in the next few months, so 4.0.3 support is a stopgap measure. Still, it would be better for Coby to support their products worldwide and give people confidence about buying the new stuff.

I still see the old website that is down for technical reasons when I log in. In Spain, Portugal and France you may get the message you are posting. I expect to be in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and France in Sept, and I will be curious to check the website.

The difference could be different marketing strategies for different regions. North America got the 3rd generation products, so one might expected no support for an upgrade to 4.0.3. Recently I picked up an 8042 to replace the 8125 I sold. However, I continue to play with my 1126 already upgraded to 4.0.3. The one downside with the 8042 is it comes with 4 GB storage, while the 9042, 9742, 1042 and 1045 come with 8 GB. With the Coby implementation of 4.0.3 there seems to be a limit on even the onboard 4 GB and I am having a problem with the 1126. Let's see how if deal with this better in the 3rd generation tablets.

I upgraded my 1126 last night with that update and so far no issues. I got the info from an individual from Kyros Tablet Zone. So far so good (knock on wood).

Hello there,

I'm still facing some problems with Wifi signal going up and down. But my major problem is to be able to see videos on webpages. If i go to youtube (or any other page with video) i click the black square and i can't see the video. some users can see video with latest update, others like me can't.
Do you know any solution?
P.S. - yes, I've flash player installed.

Does anyone know how to overcome the problem of the update stalling on reboot with the exclamation mark? I had read that it might be because of low disk space on the download but I did a factory reset and came up with the same problem...

What you need to do is temporarily flash the stock recovery onto the tablet. Follow this guide. After you've done that reboot the tablet normally and run the update, this time when the tablet reboots the new update will recognize the stock recovery software and will proceed with installation. Once the update installs you can reinstall clockworkmod. I had the same problem as you and this solved it.

To be honest I have no idea if they are the same, they might be but i'm not sure.

(SOLVED) Hi there
Is there any way to remove a secondary google account without Factory reset? I've installed trough CWM, a nandroid backup from another user that was working well with some problems that i had with mine.
After install his version, i've noticed that his backup had his google account. I've created a new one (mine) and tryed to remove the other user account, but system just says that i need to make a factory reset. As this rom already have google apps and other apps installed, i didn't wish to make everything again.
Regards
Zorbar

HERE IS THE SOLUTION IF SOMEONE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM:

You can do this if your phone is rooted:
All you have to do is use Root
Explorer and go to /data/system/ find accounts.db and rename it to
accounts.db.bak so I could just name it back if I had a problem instead of doing
a restore. I also did a Nandroid backup.. Reboot your phone and goto
settings>accounts and sync>add account and your good to go!!!!

**I
would definitely recommend doing a NANDROID backup before, just in case you
delete the wrong file accidentally.

Thanks to alegalalien user in Androidforums.com for the tip.

I just got the latest. I hope it is better. Mine would lock up if I kept the wireless on with the first update.

Hey,

I have some problems when updating to ics on 1125.

1. the wifi issue: it just tells me "turning wifi on" and nothing happens. no wifi
2. when installting with recovery mode some zips to fix this or to update to other roms i found here Coby Kyros Free Roms - Login

and here http://cobykyros.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tutorials&action=display&thread=20 it just keeps me in a loop at the android logo after the first coby logo when booting. when i do it (flashing) again and again after a while i can boot to ics finally. so these loops are random?

if there is anybody who can provide me a gingerbread rom, I would really appreciate that! please help me out of here... ;(

I cant solve this so I searched around for downgrading solutions to gingerbread.

unfortunately i cant find any roms. you managed this I read so I would kindly ask you if you can provide me a gingerbread rom to flash. thank you very much. it would be a great help for me..!

Hello All,

Just sharing part of my experience here

I am struggling to get my recently purchaced MpMan 1027 to run Skype using the front camera

That is all I want !!

It came with Android 2.3.3, which should be enought to do video calling through skype.

I initially tried to isntall skype through a recent .apk skype file found on the web. Worked but the tablet would look for the back camera and eventually make weird noises.

All other apps used (Fring oovoo etc) would behave similarly

I looked it up and tried to get a better ROM to flash the tablet with as support would not care responding, hoping that a better rom would enable skype to use the front camera

I initially tried a better gingerbread bake proposed for Coby Kyros MID1024 (http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...rbread-android-2-3-mid1024-23.html#post230862) only to realise that my tablet was not compatible (even though other MpMan 1027 owners claimed success...)

After a lot of forum search i realised the tablet is probably a MID1125 (similar to the Coby Kyros 1125)

Looking for a way to upgrade the ROM (hoping it would allow to use the front camera) ...the easy sollution was the ICS Rom update offered by the Consumer Entertainment Products for Home, Office or On the Go! | COBY

I fiddled with the serial as mine was not recognised, using the one from the video

The rom started downloading (very slow) and installed the upgrade by itself

To my surprise the tablet was fitted with ICS 4.1.1

That was the end of the good news

The wifi is constantly dropping (no more than 2 mins connection at a time) - i have not found any app that can fix this

The behaviour of the tablet is very unstable

I often have screen reversals (like watching your pad in a mirror!)

The silver home button is not working (only the return and menu buttons work), and the soft button (bottom tray) not responding either

The tablet hangs very often (many different way the tablet freezes ... the most impressive happended when in one occasion when I pressed the app drawer icon (top right corner) and I heard a squirking sound then black screen and nothing. In some cases a power-off power on will do the trick, in other cases you need to press the reset button

What is more ... the front camera is still not recognised !!! (with no known video chat app, skype, oovoo, fring etc)

Of course the camera itself works as I can take pics and record video through the camera app

What a waste of time and money !!

They are right !! You get what you pay for !!

even though the 180 Euro payed for this piece of junk is no way a bargain... I hope to get a refund for it but not sure I will manage since I already flashed it with a different ROM (does that void guarantee?)

My advice : If you are an unlucky MpMan 1027 owner and you need video calling ability ... forget it ! get a refund and buy a Tablet that is certified and guarantee to handle video calls !

The MpMan as well as others like Coby, Archos and the like that produce these cheap tablets and clones are just cheating on non-expert consumers that will assume that a tablet with a front facing camera in the center, will handle video calls ... what else ?? take pictures or films of yourself??

HELP!

If any one has any solution for this MpMan 1027 to have it do proper video calling I would realy like to hear about it !!

Otherwise I will try to revert to 2.3.3 (god knows how) where at least the wifi doesnt go off all the time ...

If there are other MpMan users out there, what is the ROM you recomend using ?

Here the hardware specs

AAARGHH!!

Hello I updated my MID1125 (MpMan 1027) to ICS 4.1.1 through the german site
Tell me what you need for the zip.
Beware that this is not stable on my machine ... http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...s-android-4-0-true-post231142.html#post231142

I didn't do a back-up of the previous ROM (2.3.3) as i thought the site would just download ... infortunately it ran the update by itself on my machine ...

I didn't do any of the rooting processes that i see (with CWM, booting from the SD card etc)

Is there a way to go back to 2.3.? ... Considering the instability I get on the tablet I guess the specs are not up to it (then on the other hand why Coby released an ICS update for it?)

Thanks for helping !

OUT OF MEMORY NOTIFICATION AND 4.1.1 UPDATE:

Yesterday my tablet (8127\MP827) started showing a message saying it was running out of memory... i went to settings and noticed that the 256MB available for apps were almost full so i started un-installing some apps but i the free space kept disappearing!

after some research i foung that as i un-installed apps, the app "System Updater" was taking all the remaining free space! It was downloading an update in the background!

i finally managed to free enough space (it needed about 98MB) for it to finish the download and it asked me to install the update!

I'm now on 4.1.1 but the update wipes everything so be careful!
