The following threads have been in the Nook Color Forum for some time now. I've been told many times recently, "I didn't know. I don't have a Nook, so I never go in the Nook Forum."

Hopefully, other folks will see this and take advantage of the freebees now.

Try Creative Commons. A lot of new authors release books there to get a following.

There's the Gutenberg Project, Baen has some free books also.

You should also check if your library has ebooks. Download Overdrive Media and enter your library information and your library card and pin. You will need to set up a free adobe account if you want to download adobe epub encrypted books. The library will only own a few licenses for the encrypted books, but public domain books shouldn't be restricted. I usually use Aldiko or the B&N Nook readers, since the Overdrive reader is not very good. You might also be able to download audio books.

You and your friend are more than welcome. Yes, it's good to know about sites like these in this wild economy. I've read a lot of great original books from these sites and I hope your friend enjoys them as much as I do.

Spider is good at telling people where to go, always in a good way, of course. :)

Thanks for those links, frap!

IDK, mobileread.com has thousands of free ebooks that have been formated and added by members.

Well I am certainly one of those who likes freebies. But I really got p..... off when I read that Barnes and Noble has been conspiring with other big players to keep the prices of Ebooks high. No wonder they can subsidies their Tablets and give books away for free! Android4Africa

Sorry just my opinion.
