Read and re-read the dev sticky like it says... then remember to rename cw_recovery to cwm_ recovery and place in the right folder. also if you have at least intermitent wifi, check your router for a firmware update.

My wifi is fine in. We use it all around my office. I just have not been able to connect at all. It says "turning on wifi" and it just stays that way. I flashed back to my nandroid of the stock rooted in the meantime, hopefully I can figure out whats wrong because a google tablet without the apps seems ridiculous.

I got it on the tablet. I'm having the wi-fi problem. It won't even connect. I go to the Alien app, and turn on the wi-fi there. Still nothing. I can't even get into Google Play to work with the settings there. I like the system, but its getting frustrating.

Additionally, my device is not showing a mac address. Could that have something to do with it?

Geez. I'm having issues tonight. So I ditched Alien and went with the stock ROM. It has nothing on it. Then I reloaded the update from vamp's post. It goes into a continual android loop. I either get a working stock system, a broken Alien system, or a broken "update" system. Are there other ROM's out there to choose from? Preferably some with gapps included?

Update: Backed up to Alien Droid V1.0 and still no dice. It just won't turn on the wi-fi no matter what I do.

did you try doing a simple reboot? Whenever my wifi goes out that does the trick...
Could also try doing a full wipe in CWM...

I'm not understanding you on the simple reboot. I've rebooted the system over and over. I've loaded 3 different systems on it, and I still have the wi-fi issue... on all three now, not just the one. Is there a reboot I don't know about tucked away somewhere within CWM or something?

If you're having this issue regardless of the ROM installed, isn't it possible the hardware could be the culprit?

EDIT: I misread your post. All three tablets have the same issue? Have you checked the obvious stuff like the router?

No, its just one tablet. Before I started all of this, I had wifi. I neglected to backup my system. I know, bit mistake. I'd be nice if someone had a system that was more up to date than the system from listed as StockMID1042.zip, which I believe is contained in the OP of this thread. My tablet's production date was some time last year and didn't have GetJar on it, it had the other one whose name escapes me now.

As to the hardware, I've been wondering if it has a different wifi, and needs different drivers for that (additionally, I haven't a clue where the drivers are even kept on the tablet, though I have explored the system with the adb shell a little). But it is only one tablet, and I've tried three different ROM's on it. Again, wifi was fine before all of this. I just want to fix the wifi so it works. The tablet will work otherwise with Alien Droid, and the Stock ROM from this thread. The Update1042 from Vamp's thread goes into a loop with the android logo on it. Those are the three ROM's I've been trying to get going to no avail. If I can just get one of them going with wifi enabled, I'll be a happy camper.

Okay, I'm looking at my build.prop. On line 25, it reads

Code:
ro.wifi.channels=

Shoud that be left blank like that, or should there be a channel assigned? So you can see what I'm talking about, I'll put the whole thing in there.

Code:
# begin build properties
# autogenerated by buildinfo.sh
ro.build.id=IML74K

I would rather try to troubleshoot the problem, rather than send the hardware back. The hardware works, it just needs to be told to activate the wifi.

I'm anxious to see what you come up with. I went back to stock and loaded market on there manually. Wifi works after restoring the backup I made before flashing AlienRom

When did you get your tablet? Did it come with GetJar, or SlideME? If it came with SlideME, I'd be interested in getting the backup you made for it. I have a feeling that if I can get the right rom, it will get the wifi up and running again. I've been searching and searching and reading different methods of trying to get the wifi up, but nobody seems to have my exact problem on the internet, or they're not writing about it. Its very frustrating. I may have to send this back for another one, though I'm pretty sure I'll have the same thing happen again.

I've also read that Alien Droid is no longer being developed. That means there'll likely never be a fix for this wifi problem. It was that ROM that turned my wifi off in the first place. Also, Vamp might want to update the 1042_update.zip on his thread. It sent my tablet into a loop.

One more thing. Should I have been deleting my cache with all of this? Perhaps that should be added to some of these tutorials as well.

I was able to side load FXR. It couldn't fix the wifi for me, so I boxed the thing up and am sending it back to Amazon for a replacement. When this one comes, I'll make sure to make a backup of my system before I do anything.

I realize I screwed a ton of people over on this rom and I appologize. I no longer own the device but if someone owns the device with screwed up wifi due to my rom then I want to try and see if i can try to fix the issue(do not get your hopes up though). Starting off with a logcat from someone with the screwed up wifi problem. You could try turning wifi on / off while gathering it... also someone with broken wifi and someone with nonbroken wifi, I need the output of blkid from in adb shell.
