From B&N: Manual Download Instructions
1. From your computer, click here for the software update file. Select Save and select Desktop as the location. Do NOT modify or change the downloaded file's name in any way. Do NOT open the *.ZIP file.

2. Tap Settings on your NOOKcolor's Quick Nav Bar, then tap Device Info and make sure your NOOKcolor battery charge is at 20% or more.

3. Connect your NOOKcolor to your computer using the USB cable that came with your NOOKcolor. A new, removable drive should show up in My Computer (Mac users will see the NOOKcolor drive appear on the desktop or in devices). You should also see a "USB Mode" message on your NOOKcolor screen.

4. From your computer, drag and drop the downloaded *.ZIP file onto the main directory of the NOOKcolor drive. Do NOT unzip the file. You should not create a new folder on the NOOKcolor drive or add the file to any other existing folder.

5. Eject or Safely Remove the NOOKcolor drive after the file transfer is complete.

6. Your NOOKcolor will automatically recognize the file after a few minutes or when it goes to sleep mode, and proceed to install the updates.

7. Please do not turn off your NOOKcolor during the installation process.

8. Once the installation is completed, your NOOKcolor will automatically restart and go to the Home screen.

9. On the bottom left status bar a green "n" will appear. Tap on it; the software has been successfully updated.

NOOKcolor must remain turned on while the update is being installed. Once the software is installed, NOOKcolor will reboot itself back to the Home screen. To verify you have the latest update, tap Settings from the Quick Nav Bar, tap Device Info, then tap About Your NOOKcolor and check to see that your software version is 1.1.0.

Rico, I'm doing the followup part of the whole thing, when I got to: "Tap the Nav Arrow & extras & launch Gmail"it says "This account is not configured to sync automatically. Press menu> Accounts&sync and configure this account to sync mail automatically. Also in the step before that setting up Youtube, it kept saying "There was a problem with the network[401]". I show that I am connected to my wireless network full scale. Any ideas? Upon further investigation it seems that the market is working fine.

Sorry, for crying wolf, everything is working great. Really this was very easy, the hardest part was writing the image to the SD card with my Mac. I already installed Zeam from the market, now to download CWR and figure that out. I will go back to the main threads and quit bugging you here. Thanks.

OK, I am back up and running with a rooted NC. CWR is installed and a back up has been made. Now to add some apps and see what this baby will do. Thanx everyone for getting me back up again.

Congrats! Also realize that you have reached the first plateu, the rooted nook. Now the real fun (and potential trouble) begins... Make sure you have a good backup before making major changes, and also I recommend taking a good backup, change a few settings and then restore that backup at least once to make sure you know HOW TO RESTORE so that you're not in a panic if you have to do so for real at a later time. :)

Happy Nookie!

I have noticed a couple things. First YouTube does not work, I know this is covered here somewhere as I have read the fix. One fix said to uninstall and reinstall, I can do the install but how do you uninstall an app on the NC.

The other issue is the same as I had that other day, I can not sign in to my hotmail account on the web page, I keep running into a "The name on the site does not match the name on the certificate" error.

To uninstall go to nook color tools then manage app. Select item then uninstall.

But before u uninstall youtube try this... download the free version of titanium backup from the market. Select youtube in that app and then select clear data for youtube. You can also backup and uninstall apps in titanium backup. Be careful when uninstalling systems apps.

For hotmail thing try a web browser like the app dolphin mini or dolphin hd. Within dolphin select user agent then select desktop and see if that works.
