its not there. i think the original rom had a separate zip file that was needed to be flashed to be able to hide it

It might have been, I don't remember, I use cm9 and cm10 on my tablets.

I might try to get auora ROM working for MID1042 because I am tired of these wifi issues. Not sure if it would help but it might. I will probably start porting on Friday or later today.

When I say stock I mean coby stock not aura stock, the WiFi in this Rom was copied from coby 7042 and 8042. However the WiFi for cm9 and cm10 work great for me.

You mean you copied wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd and the other binaries or do you mean one of the frameworks (/system/framework)

Edit:I am excited to say that this rom without modification works with 1042. I didn't flash it anotomously as I did check update script to make sur it wouldn't screw anything...but that means that all 7042 and 8042 roms might work with 1042.I can't test if wifi is any better but once I get home I can.

Ok thanks.
I will try that first and see what happens

I got this to work
8042-no-touch-functionality

Good, mainly ts drivers are different, I really appreciate when people do their own fixes, and post what they did to help others. I am one man that works on probably 10 different tablets, and 15 or so recoveries an roms, so times doesn't allow me to fix every issue, that people may have.

I am currently on your CM9 rom for the 7042. Would this Aurora ROM be better? Or should I just stick with the Cm9?

I think cm9 ROM offers more, I use cm9 myself. I am currently working on cm for 7042, but down fail to cm10 is weak WiFi.
Try as many roms as you want, everyone is different.

Hello everyone, first let me thank you guys for all the hard work you've done on the Coby tablets, nice one!!

I have a question that I would like to be answered by someone who knows, if possible. Before buying a Coby 7042, I really need to know if it's possible to recompile the kernel, because I will need to use USB-to-serial drivers. Insmod'ing a .ko driver is a NO-GO, I really need the driver to stay built-in the kernel.

Is this possible or not (for the 7042)??

So thank you all in advance.
Best regards.
